On April 16th, the UK Supreme Court ruled that in law the word "woman" does not apply to trans women, even when they have changed their legal documents. This is incredibly discriminatory and plain out bad. You can read about it on CNN.
A worrying time for trans rights
We're all seeing a shift in politics: the election of Donald Trump is the epitome of it, but most countries are going more and more to the right wing, allowing discrimination to become insitutionalised. It can bring about many heavy, scary emotions, that we might not know how to deal with. In these times, it's important to remember: you are not alone. Trans people, and allies, all over the world, see and feel your struggle. And we'll continue to talk about it. To demand rights. To bring these conversations up. To write to our governors. To discuss with our teachers. To treat everyone as human beings. Because I believe in humanity. We have done some.. awful stuff in our history. But it doesn't mean we can't redeem ourselves. This is the moment we are called to do something. Anything. Even when times are dark, we can't lose sight of our goal: to let everyone have the basic rights of self-determination and, honestly, of just leading a happy life.
