This page is dedicated to a beautiful and special videogame: Beyond Good & Evil.
Developed by Ubisoft Montreal and Milan from 1999 until its release in 2003, this game received great praise from critics and gained a very passionate fanbase.

Welcome to Hillys!
We find ourselves in a vast galaxy, specifically on a planet called Hillys, where a dictatorship has formed with the purpose of defending the population against the DomZ, the aliens from space that Hillys is currently at war with.
We play as Jade, a freelance photographer who takes care of children orphaned from the war with her uncle Pey'j. One day she receives a special photograph request: to go on the Black Isle and take pictures of two DomZ aliens that are rumoured to live there, even if the Hillian government is denying everything..
The game
The game explored many themes: political propaganda is probably the biggest one in the game, with a song titled exactly "Propaganda", but there are more, from friendship to resistance, always with a hopeful spirit.
The game has plenty of fun to offer too: there are several minigames you can play in Hillys!
And it has a beautiful, gorgeous soundtrack that you will always remember.
A sequel?
Despite a sequel having been announced in 2008, it has yet too see the light. We had an initial trailer for it (youtube link), but it was later scratched.
A new version of the sequel has currently been in the works for years, with this trailer and some gameplay being presented.
But will it ever come out? Some fans doubt that. Ubisoft themselves have stated that this is their most ambitious project ever, and with how the industry is currently going, who knows if we'll see Jade and Pey'j again!
Scroll to see the trailer for the sequel Ubisoft is currently working on!
The remastered
For its 20th anniversary, a remastered version of the game was released in 2023, with updated graphics, added content, and bonus behind the scene sketches, photos and videos, including those of scratched levels and characters that didn't make it to the final cut.
I currently have the Nintendo Switch version, which (despite clearly being not as performative as the PC version) is just great!
